Why is it that we can eat the same thing for breakfast every day but if we ate the same thing for dinner every night, that would just be considered crazy?? This is the question I usually turn over in my mind (is this weird?) as I prep these Cinnamon Apple Overnight Oats. This is one recipe my family and I love to eat for breakfast many days in a row!

The Roots of the Recipe:
Now I would love to take complete credit for this overnight oats recipe, but it was really my husband’s doing. He needed a quick, good for you breakfast he could grab on the way to his early morning commute. He asked me to come up with something that I could meal prep for the work week. Thus, our Cinnamon Apple Overnight Oats were born.
Made from a few simple, wholesome ingredients, this recipe couldn’t be easier. Cinnamon-y apple goodness, crunchy walnuts, and chewy raisins, what’s not to love?!

Not to mention oats are amazing little scrubbers for the inside of your body. They contain a special type of soluble fiber called beta-glucans. This fiber balances blood sugar, reduces inflammation, and can help to lower cholesterol which is what oats have become famous for. And I don’t know about you but whenever I make a good decision at breakfast, the choices I make for the rest of the day tend to be healthier also.

Making your oats:
These oats are super simple to put together. First, add all your dry ingredients to a mason jar or bowl. (I have been using these stackable Ball pint jars lately, they’re amazing!) Then top them off with your chopped apples and add the milk. If making several servings at a time, you have a few options on when to add your milk. You can add it to all the jars at once, or each night add milk to your prepped containers so you will have “fresh” oats each day. It’s up to you!
Once you have everything combined, stick your containers in the fridge. Your oats will become creamy and the raisins plump up as they do their thing overnight!

“Mom” tip:
Let your kids make these oats with you, they will be more likely to try them if they are hands on in the making. You can even give them a few “fun” ingredients to add in like chocolate chips or sprinkles. This is a great recipe for littles ones to help with, it’s easy for them to mix everything together.

Anytime I make something with cinnamon the kitchen smells amazing and the house just feels cozy, don’t you agree?
